Timothy Lynch was born in Mineola, New York. He trained for 10 years on full scholarship at the School of American Ballet. In 1993, he left New York and Fordham University to join Pacific Northwest Ballet.<\/p>\n

In his time with PNB, Mr. Lynch performed featured roles in George Balanchine’s Agon<\/em>, A Midsummer Night’s Dream<\/em>, and The Four Temperaments<\/em>, along with works by Jerome Robbins, Kent Stowell, and Paul Taylor. He originated roles in works by Donald Byrd, Val Caniparoli, Kevin O’Day, Mark Dendy, Kent Stowell, and Lynne Taylor-Corbett. Mr. Lynch’s rich international performing experience also includes character roles such as Carabosse in Ronald Hynd’s Sleeping Beauty<\/em>, Herr Drosselmeier in Kent Stowell’s The Nutcracker<\/em>, and Gamache in Kevin Mackenzie’s Don Quixote<\/em>. His film credits include the role of Nick Bottom in the BBC Production of Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Mr. Lynch became co-director of PNB’s Outreach Youth Performing Group in 2001, along with teaching in PNB’s outreach and education Dance Chance program. Then in 2003, he was invited to join Pacific Northwest Ballet School as a full-time faculty member, where he helped build and shape the men’s program for over 10 years. Mr. Lynch received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Cornish College of the Arts in 2005, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He has been guest faculty at Cornish College of the Arts, University of Washington, Western Washington University, and Grand Rapids Ballet.<\/p>\n\t

In 2007 Mr. Lynch founded Seattle Dance Project, a uniquely collaborative non-profit focused on community outreach and arts education. He directed and danced with Seattle Dance Project in their performances of original works by Donald Byrd, James Canfield, Pat Catterson, Molissa Fenley, Kiyon Gaines, Edwaard Liang, Wade Madsen, Eva Stone, Kent Stowell, Olivier Wevers, Ellie Sandstrom, and Hilde Koch. He’s had the honor of invitations to create works for Cornish College of the Arts, Dance Contemporary, and the Creative Dance Center.<\/p>\n

In 2011 Mr. Lynch earned the KOMO Kids First Award for mentoring local youth, and was awarded Educator of the Year 2012 from the Dance Educators Association of Washington. He was honored to receive an Advanced Opportunity Fellowship from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Dance with a focus on dance history, somatic studies, and pedagogy. His strong belief in education leads him to continue to find ways to further his professional development.<\/p>\n

Mr. Lynch served as the Academy Director for BalletMet in Columbus, Ohio from 2014 to 2016. His choreographic work has debuted at venues such as the Ohio Dance Festival, Capitol Theater, and McCaw Hall in Seattle. During his tenure with the company he created a boys program, expanded the pre-professional trainee program, and rebranded the adult dance fitness classes. Mr. Lynch’s deep conviction regarding the transformative qualities of yoga led him to complete his 200 hour Yoga Alliance Certification in 2016.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"DSC_0087\"\n\t

Along with his wife (professional ballet dancer and educator Alexandra Dickson), Mr. Lynch founded Lynch Dance Institute in San Diego, California in 2017. They saw a need in the dance community for a superior training facility whose focus is on the whole dancer. Also that year, Mr. Lynch was personally invited to join the acclaimed faculty of the world-renowned Colburn School in Los Angeles by then-director Jenifer Ringer, a former New York City Ballet principal dancer. He continues to teach there under the directorship of former New York City Ballet dancer Silas Farley.<\/p>\n

After receiving an invitation in 2020, Mr. Lynch began teaching ballet and introductory dance classes at California State University-Fullerton, and was also afforded a unique opportunity to join the international online teaching platform, Ballettogether.com. Between his work at Lynch Dance Institute and vast faculty resum\u00e9, he is proud to educate dancers around the world on a weekly basis.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"IMG_3515\"\n\t
