We recently moved out of state and can honestly say that LDI is at the top of our “things we miss most” list. My daughter got her start in ballet here several years ago; Tim and Alex nurtured a genuine love of dance for her and even helped me choose a new studio when we moved! The entire staff is top notch and develops these kids appropriately and with great skill. If you haven’t done so- check out the Mixed Nuts production in December- you won’t regret it!

Any school assignment, race, hobby, passion, challenge, or even decision that I’ve had to make in the last five years, I can safely say I completed with the knowledge that LDI has given me. I run Division III track while studying psychology at Chapman University and even though I have not danced at LDI in two years I think about them often. Partly because I miss their love greatly but also because I am constantly using what they taught me. At LDI I received incredible Ballet training that transformed my ballet technique, however the life lessons and discipline that I also learned are things I will carry with me for the rest of my life. The self discipline that I learned, I implement in every single one of my races, in every class, before every final, and during every difficult work out. I have learned that you cannot carelessly complete anything and that no one will force you to be better other than yourself, but when you come to work you put in 110% of yourself and you continue to do so every day to get stronger. That takes a lot of self-discipline and love for your craft, something that is very hard to discover yourself, and when you have fantastic teachers like Ms.Dickson and Mr. Lynch it becomes much easier to bring to the surface. As an athlete I realized self discipline is the most essential quality you can have and it’s the fastest way to reach success and I am so grateful that LDI was able to bring it out in me because it has helped me everyday to continue studying and pushing myself to be better to ensure a better future. I went to LDI five days a week in high school and it’s no wonder that anytime I am home from school I immediately come for open classes, it’s a place of absolute joy and just seeing the teachers faces makes me smile, and even though I’m no longer training ballet there is always something to take away from LDI. And even if you think you have acquired all of the knowledge you can from Ms. Dickson and Mr. Lynch at least you know you can go there to get a good laugh and smile and to really feel the love and care they give to all their dancers.

LDI continually pushed me to become the dancer I am. Their spirit of excellence and joy stayed with me into my college years and beyond.

I had the privilege of witnessing and being a part of LDI’s genesis which set a strong foundation for the career that I am experiencing today. LDI and its dedicated staff instilled in me the outright importance of hard work and to embrace it fully. I am grateful to have been able to learn from such passionate individuals who have given me the tools to push myself and flourish in my professional ballet career. Since my time at LDI, I have been given multiple soloist opportunities at the early stages of my career, and when rehearsing I am constantly reminded of LDI’s teachings that hard work (and a fiery passion for what you do) ALWAYS pays off.

It’s hard to put into few words how much LDI has shaped me into who I am today. When I first came here, I was coming from a bad environment that completely shot my confidence. I felt out of place and undeserving of corrections or praise at my technique. But what I quickly realized was that LDI values hard work and intelligence, and any lack of talent I had was never held against me. It was the first time my instructors believed in me, let alone more than I believed in myself. Over time I was empowered to take pride in my accomplishments, and be unashamed of the growth that followed hard work.

A ballet studio’s environment is heavily shaped by the rhetoric that comes from its instructors. So it’s no surprise to me that LDI has a culture of encouragement and excellence. Students are set up to feel comfortable to be their true selves, and having older dancers who feel confident in their abilities creates a space where younger dancers feel safe to do the same.

Since moving to Lynch Dance Institute I have had a very enriching experience which I feel has been a step in the direction towards a professional career. Everyone at the studio has been so welcoming and supportive of me as both a person and a dancer. It has been a truly refreshing experience to be training in a space filled with so much positivity and I am so grateful for the time I get to spend here.

Lynch dance Institute finds the balance between being overly strict and too lenient, providing a tough but nurturing environment. LdI has helped me tremendously and feels more like a second home than a ballet studio. The Lynch’s themselves are amazing teachers. They make the studio about, and for the students themselves. The Lynch’s overall attitude toward dance and their students is so positive and encouraging. It pushes you to be a better dancer and better person. The program is challenging and the teachers are amazing. This studio enlightens and develops the body and soul.
